Thoughts 2
On my walk this morning I was thinking about mummies and why mummification is no longer practiced. I guessed that mummification is expensive and most likely no one actually knows how to do it any longer. A quick google search satisfied my curiosity. Apparently it is presently the costliest way to be buried, the cost starts at $67,000 and does not include the cost of your sarcophagus. Upon further inquiry it seems the cost is closer to $100,000 just for the mummification. Oh and of course there is ONE guy/company in the entire world that practices the ritual of mummification and he is based in Salt Lake City. (LOL) I will link his webpage but he seems to be some American guy (Claude “corky” Nowell) going by an ancient Egyptian name (Summum Bonum Amon Ra). Someone needs to do a documentary on this guy ASAP. I would definitely watch. Mummification has always been a lengthy and expensive process, among other things the body has to be placed in salts for 70-90 days. Honestly, I think it would be cool to be mummified and preserved. The funniest thing on Summums website is that you have a regular funeral and viewing and the are shipped to Summum for mummification where your family cannot see your body again until after you are sealed in your sarcophagus. This made me wonder if this isn’t some elaborate, “the emperors new clothes” scheme and there is no mummification happening and there nothing on the box but rocks and newspaper.
http://www.summum.org check out the website if interested.
my other thought was I wonder if anyone is still practicing ancient Egyptian religion aside from it obviously being alive within christendom and all abrahamic religions….Apparently there are people organizing via the internet (of course) that are attempting to revive the religion in its original form as Kemetic orthodoxy. Another documentary that I need to see because there people are either tragic or just history nerds.
Listening to Bach today and his Harpsichord Concerto No. 5 in F minor is some of the finest music ever made. Also, Johann is a great name and people should use it more.
I’m constantly reading and researching about weight lifting/ exercise and today’s new finding is that step ups are great for glute activation, just as good as squats.
