I think this article is eliding the most important aspect of the concept of "hypergamy" as it's used in manosphere spaces. These guys aren't talking about how single men or women select a partner. When they speak of hypergamous women, they're really referring to how a girl will lose her attraction to a current partner when she encounters a higher status male. And that's something they believe a man would only do for looks, not for money or status.
Beautiful article ♥️. You tell it exactly how it is. I would appreciate it if you can take a more neutral standpoint in your writing and also tell how both parties can maximize their chances if they choose to use hypergamy to their benefit.
I think, many men would 'like' to be hypergamous for the reasons you state. That said, women's hyper hypergamy prevents this from being a sensible strategy. Both sexes trying to date up is a zero sum game. I say hyper hypergamous because now, as women's education and financial status has increased, so too have their expectations of men. A successful hypergamous male is a rather rare thing and must be performing exceptionally on some other bench mark to hold his mate. I think it is probable that most men want their partner to be performing financially on some level to add to the pot. They probably don't have the luxury of demanding the same or higher financial performance than themselves from 'would be' partners. Female hypergamy prevents it.
ps; easy casual sex is not readily available for vast majority of men. For most men being single means being celibate. In 2022 as ever the mans way to ensure a mate is by outperforming his peers (of both sexes)
It isn't men that ask this question 'what do you do?'. It's anyone, male or female, who is not used to being truly intimate with themselves and others. This tends to be men, as women are more mature emotionally and spiritually in our culture esp. When asked, I usually respond 'this, I do this' or 'I try to breathe and relax' lol..fun times. Nice job w the essay.
